One of our newest teas, fresh in this week from Japan. This is the September harvest of our sencha, made from mature unshaded Yabukita leaves, and is light-bodied and smooth. Its moon-like yellow liquor is accompanied by a warm cedar aroma. It has a notable astringency and a nutty floral taste reminiscent of pansy and lilac. Harvested at the beginning of autumn, a sencha this late is unusual even in Japan. The leaf looks very much like bancha, but is clearly of a higher quality.
