So this is a Peaberry, which is a tiny bean, but round. There are different schools of thought regarding peaberry coffee – the flavour is supposed to be sweeter, more flavourful, and higher caffeine – although so many other factors affect this! But oh my goodness, what an unusual coffee is this! The smell of the beans is something else, but the flavour is just lush! Perfect for a slow brew.
Roast 4, Tasting notes: Blackcurrant, Orange, Earl grey, Honey, Dark chocolate and Sweet tamarind.
The coffee grown in the Bener Meriah, Aceh in Sumatra is the Tim Tim varietal by 60 smallholders who have only up to 1 hectare each at a height of 1300-1600masl. As with most coffee from this region the coffee has been processed by Giling Basah method, which is generally a wet hulling process.
