You know sometimes an Earl Grey is just too perfumed, and maybe just a little bit ‘fake’ in it’s fragrance and taste?
We had some samples from a tea merchant in Sri Lanka, Pramath, young man with a very young family, and spent several days tasting his teas. We tasted this Earl Grey, and decided immediately that we needed it for our collection. We sell a lot of Earl Grey, our basic relatively inexpensive one, with the blue cornflowers, and it’s nice, but this one … wow! We knew that our EG afficionados were going to love it. It’s a little more expensive, but the quality of the tea is worth every penny.
I’ve been drinking it throughout today, from hot to cold, and the flavour is gentle, but clearly bergamot, but not excessive. At last, an Earl Grey that I can drink.
